Common Problems And Solutions in Ampoule Filling And Sealing

The sealing of injection ampoules generally includes two methods: pull sealing and top sealing. Due to the advantages of smooth, sturdy, and tight top of the finished product produced by the previous method, many factors can affect the quality of the sealed ampoules in practical applications. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the sealing operation. The common problems, causes, and solutions or improvement methods in the production of LSAG-III 1-2ML wire drawing and filling machine by Xiaoshan Qianjiang Pharmaceutical Machinery Factory for 2ml injection filling are described as follows [5].
Appearance quality issues of ampoules after sealing
1 flat head means that the top of the ampoule is clamped flat but not drawn. Cause: Both the preheating flame and the wire drawing flame are too small; The rotation of the ampoule bearing is not flexible or the pressure is too low; Some ampoule walls are too thick. Solution: Strengthen the front and rear sets of flame firepower; Replace the bearings with new ones or adjust the springs inside the ampoule holder to strengthen the pressure, so that the ampoule can rotate normally and form a wire drawing; Remove unqualified ampoules.
2 pointed tips refer to the top of the fused sealed ampoule with a pointed tip. Cause: The drawing flame is too small; The tempering time after ampoule drawing is too short; The distance between the bottom end of the wire drawing clip and the centerline of the flame level is too large; Some ampoule walls are too thick. Solution: Strengthen the flame intensity of wire drawing; Adjust and control the ignition head cam to extend the tempering time; Adjust the distance between the bottom end of the wire drawing clamp and the horizontal centerline of the flame by about 1 mm (mechanical normal position); Remove unqualified ampoules.
After melting and sealing, the top of the ampoule forms obvious large bubbles that are easy to break. Cause: The drawing flame is too strong; Excessive tempering time after ampoule wire drawing; The bottom of the wire drawing clip is slightly lower than the horizontal centerline of the flame, and although it can be melted, it is easy to form small bubbles. Solution: Reduce the strength of the wire drawing flame; Shorten the tempering time of ampoules after wire drawing; Adjust the wire drawing clamp to the normal distance from the horizontal centerline of the flame.
4. The concave head is formed at the top of the ampoule after melting and sealing. Reason for occurrence: During the drawing process, the ampoule first forms a bubble head and then cools and contracts; The heating flame is too small to dry some small water vapor on the wall of the ampoule, which causes the newly formed top arc of the ampoule to contract and form a flattened head. Solution: Handle according to the method of solving the bubble head; Strengthen the heating flame to fully heat the neck of the ampoule and allow the small water vapor to evaporate as soon as possible. 1.5 Head breakage refers to the top of the ampoule not being sealed. Causes: Mechanical reasons; Excessive blistering; Excessive shrinkage of the head. Solution: Adjust the wire drawing clamp to the normal distance from the horizontal centerline of the flame; Treat according to the methods of bubble and indentation.
